Week of August 4th

Reading and snacking at the beach

I had such high hopes for a well planned week and then realized that none of it was going to work. My oldest had an evening soccer camp and it made more sense for my husband and I both to drive up and then go out for dinner and do some planning. It was all such a treat and we had a fun week.

What did you all eat this week?

Monday - We ate at CK pearl in Essex, MA. I have had this place on my list for a long time and I loved it. Got a few oysters, the wings, fish tacos, and fried bay scallops. Surprisingly the scallops were my least favorite but am so excited to go back and try more. Also fantastic cocktails. My daughter needed dinner in the car so she had chicken caesar salad wraps.

the screened in porch right on the Essex water was amazing

Tuesday- We ate at the Boat House also in Essex, Ma . We have been here before and loved it then as well. We ended up there close to 5pm and we were the youngest there by far. It is a classic food place and everything was delicious. Say yes to the brown bread.- Yum! I had the delicious haddock mornay which reminds me of a favorite from my childhood. My husband got a caesar salad with grilled swordfish. My daughter’s car dinner was full salad wrap with chickpeas.

Wednesday- We ate at 15 Walnut in Hamilton, MA. There was $1 Oysters on Wednesday so we started with 12 of those! I ordered scallops with polenta, bacon, and mushrooms. It was good but not exactly what I hoped for, really I just love the way my husband makes scallops and I should stick to those- keep and eye out for my version soon. My Husband got a house salad with salmon in a wrap. My daughter’s car dinner was a greek wrap with feta, hummus, olives, and chickpeas.

Thursday- We packed a snack dinner and ate at Dane Beach in Beverly, MA. It was really lovely to sit, read, and snack at the beach. My daughter’s car dinner was caesar salad with spicy bare strips.

Friday- We had friends over for pizza. I made a vanilla base for the NInja creami for the kids and the adults snacked on fancy gummi candy for dessert.

Satuday- Home and making a relaxing dinner is just what I needed. I made a rif on Melissa Clark’s corn pasta but added fresh tomatoes and lots of butter and it was delicious. The picture does not do it justice, I will for sure make again.

Not too pretty, but delicious corn and tomato pasta

Sunday- after a great day at the beach, we ate leftover pizza and salad and corn with salt and butter.

Next week should be back to our regular schedule of meal planning but we shall see! What are you planning on making?
